Oh C’mon Fashion Nova!

tenor (2)So, my birth month is December and what better way to celebrate than to have a head to toe make over?!

After all, It has been a while since I’ve departed from my usual plain Jane appearance; so I decided I’d splurge a bit and who better to splurge on than yourself?! Right! Especially when you deserve it!

Now, I have heard things about Fashion Nova, I have heard great things about Fashion Nova. I mean everyone, their mother, aunt and grand mother’s cat shop at Fashion Nova. (Let me just put this out there, I hate shopping!)

Not to mention the rave reviews by their cultish following about their affordable prices and holy grail jeans that are perfect for broke ass-less people like me.tenor (1).gif

And since Fashion Nova has become a household name and my closet is also benefiting from this make over, I decided to give it a go and see what all the hoopla was about.

Imagine my epic disappointment when I took my ‘happy-go-lucky-P-shaped-slightly-relaxed-boobs-depressed-ass’ self online to visit the site!

As if  being a woman isn’t hard enough, living everyday with unrealistic societal ‘standards’ of what your body should like, Fashion Nova ups and has models with freakishly tiny waists, perfectly perky titties, and asses that could have only come from the gods. Hourglass shaped models if you will.

anigif_enhanced-16245-1411381179-1.gifI was like WTF, ‘if that’s the way those clothes are suppose  to fit, then I am hopeless.’ There’s no way anything at all on that site would fit me anywhere close to the way they fit the models. I was intimidated! Yes, I know, they don’t ever fit you like they fit the models, but c’mon, give a sister some hope why don’t ya.

After I got over the shock of how ‘perfectly’ photoshopped shaped these models were, I was on my way to a full recovery; then, I saw the prices!?giphy (1).gif

Um, when I heard affordable, I was thinking somewhere in the region of maybe nothing over twenty-four bucks but definitely not a freaking relaxed cropped jersey top for $32 freaking dollars. Did I mention I was broke and on top of that our currency conversion is x 3!?

I am almost certain I heard ASOS and Boohoo laughing at me for the near heart-attack I almost suffered and for being disloyal to them(jealous bitches).

I must admit though, when I sifted through all the ‘thotty’, trashy, barely there clothing, with crotch high slits and navel low plunges (that could not, even If I tried, accommodate my mountains even with the use of duct tape), I found a few items that I didn’t mind adding to my cart and wishing upon a star that by some miracle I would be able to afford them.

Will I shop there? I love a challenge, granted I may be over ambitious, I am not opposed to actually shopping there and trying some of their clothing, including their miraculous jeans (when they go on sale of course).

I am a bit discouraged however by the poly/spandex blend that most of their clothing seem to be made of as I am not a fan of spandex. I am sticking to ASOS who has yet to fail me and Boohoo who is more often than not a hit instead of a miss. I will definitely try them out probably in the near future and see what’s up.

Stay tuned for my review, meanwhile, let me know in the comments below your go to spot for all things trendy. Do you like shopping…? I cannot be the only woman who doesn’t like shopping am I right…? What are your thoughts? 🙂

  1. I love shopping – I really do. However, I hate the prices it takes to dress trendy, so I usually don’t. I can’t afford to lol. I’m okay with shopping at Goodwill and any outlet mall that has something cute that may not exactly be in style.

    1. hahah…right?! we don’t have goodwill and what ‘malls’ we have here mark up the prices 1000% *facepalm* so it’s about finding the better bargain online… we need bargains, customs is no joke… hmph…

      1. Honestly, I think they are too! I just checked out the website for the first time and you can definitely see the photoshop forsure!

Anyhow, loved your post! I definitely can relate. It took me years to finally become at peace with how I look, still I struggle with it sometimes. I used to wish I was taller, but now I embrace my 5’3 petite self and make jokes all the time about how little I am and find it funny and cute LOL.

      2. 😊 thank you so much… it is said the term is not short…it’s fun-sized😂… my mom is a shorty but I got my dad’s height… when I was younger I always thought being short was cute lol… I love my height😊 I can reach into over head cupboards…

      3. Yes, fun-sized! lol! Yes, I love being petite now, its actually become one of my favorite characteristics about myself. I think like you mentioned in the article, society has this way of defining what is beauty, when reality is, we are all beautiful in our own ways (as cliche as that sounds, it’s true). You’ll always think the grass is greener on the other side. Someone may have the height, but not the hair or the hair, but not the eye color, etc! Models and celebrities have professional trainers, chefs, and nutritionists plus get paid to look that way/it’s their source of income. We often forget about all that!

  2. This pre-review was so funny! And the Gifs? Omg!…I think you should stick with the brands you know, at least they always come through for you and never a miss. I’m looking forward to your major review though when you eventually do shop from Fashion Nova. Regardless, give yourself a treat, you deserve it.

  4. I’m so glad someone else has mentioned how photoshopped the models are! I ordered some Bermuda shorts off there and waited patiently for them to ship to Australia only for them to be wayyyy too small! I hope you have better luck than I 🙂

  5. I JUST ORDERED MY FIRST OUTFIT from fashion nova and I’m WAITING IN THE MAIL for it. It’s an off the shoulder pant-suit romper thing and it has amazing reviews. I paid like 30$ I think for it. Now I’m scared after this post!!! Lol 😂 I’ll have to write a post about it when it gets here lol I can’t wait!!

  6. Totally 100% agree with you. Just shopped their myself. Im usually an XXS or XS so when I went on the website I got a small being safe. My items arrived two and a half weeks later and when I tried them on It look like it could fit my twelve year old cousin and even on her it might of been two small. Best part about it they don’t exchange body suits and refuse to send me a Medium or refund me 🙂

  7. For me fashion nova is a hit or miss! I usually read some review on an item before purchasing. Some people will tell you their size, height, and bust. And usually if you need to order a size up or down. Hope your outfits came and hope they’re the right size! 😬

    1. I do the exact same thing… and you’really right it is hit or miss… the three this I’ve ordered wereally all the same size and they all fit me differently.. the material… 🤔🤔… I prefer Asos…

  8. Did you end up ordering?! I was skeptical too but the jeans were surprisingly nice and like you I’m thrifty so I caught them on sale. I have coupons from my recent order if you were still interested. I loved the jeans but as you stated… some of the other outfits are a bit much.
