WTF BEAUTY TRENDS

I have never before been more intimidated by make-up than I am when I see a Youtube tutorial on achieving the perfect night to day, day to night to bed make-up look in no less than three hours.

Not to mention the no less than 10 products that are absolutely necessary to achieve said looks. I am not a fan of make-up, matter of fact, I don’t know the first thing about applying make-up.

I jumped off that train very early on when I stabbed myself in the eye with a pencil liner and by all indications, make-up has evolved quite a bit from what I remember.

These days, when I want to add a little pizzazz to my otherwise (comfortably) dull, dreary and mundane appearance, I pop out my EOS lip balm, apply, press my lips and I’m off.

Other times, on very very special occasions, I whip out my 2-year-old Ruby Woo matte lipstick by MAC; paint my lips like a vixen, then apply  mascara that almost always smears across my face before I leave the house.

As I’ve mentioned before, I am stepping out of my comfort zone for the birth month and snazzing up myself a bit. So I have been googling to get ideas of how I should go about this.

I am completely rudderless when it comes to fashion and beauty, I think I would make a perfect candidate for What Not to Wear (holla at your girl).

I mean I wore crocs to work, no I don’t work on the beach; I work in an office with stiletto wearing females whose make-up just borderlines Cirque du Soleil levels.

My mom has been my biggest proponent in my following through with this make over venture that I’ve undertaken, “your cheeks are perfect for blush,  and just put a little face powder on.”

I dabbled in modeling when I was younger (all tall skinny girls on the island dabbled in modeling) and she has been in love with the ‘new penny’ look I tend to achieve when I decided to shower, ever since.

But! Have you seen the make-up, beauty and fashion trends these days? OMG, WTF! I so admire the artistic work that is put into these masterpieces. Some are over the top gorgeous while others are really like wtf is going on there?!

The following are what I have come across lately and had I balls, I’d have probably tried the really daring ones or maybe not.

 

Brows

Barbed Wire Brows. This is a definite NO for me.

Carved Brows. A bit elaborate but I’d definitely rock this as a Carnival look.

Dragon Brows. Cute ‘ish’ but nah!

Feather Brows. I would Mos. Def. rock the hell out of this look (had I enough brows to pull it off. *facepalm*

Squiggly Brows. Um… No… No…and NO…!

Lollipop Lips… Hell No… it’s like excuse me, maam, your lipstick is smeared all over your face. “Oh no no, that’s the look I’m going for!
