Questions for White People|| Island Life

The media on the whole, has been godsend as it relates to providing a window for us islanders to gaze into the inner workings of the ‘developed’ world.

We have been able to get a glimpse (with little comprehension) of the most ‘advanced’ forms of life, cultural practices, technological breakthroughs; the whole nine.

Since bearing witness to such high levels of intelligence via which ever medium, there are so many burning questions I’d love to get the answers to:

questions

Why do u investigate the noise?

Okay so maybe not as profound as the build up might have led you to believe. But why in ‘tarnation’ would you hear a creepy sound, see a creepy figure, thing, mess and investigate who, what, when, where it is????

Why do you always split up?

There is a killer on the loose, let’s all 6 of us split up in the dark creepy woods to go find him!

Why do you go into people’s homes when no one answers?

I cannot understand for the life of me why after you’ve knocked and haven’t received an answer you proceed to open the always unlocked door, “anybody home? your door was unlocked” you’re still not satisfied that no one is home so you begin looking for them in the drawers, the medicine cabinet, gah.

Why are you so trusting of aliens?

Why is it every time there is an alien invasion all the white people take to the roofs of their homes with signs welcoming aliens whose only objective, more often than not is to obliterate earth.

Do you really only season with salt and pepper?

No, seriously, I wanna know!

Why do you eat raw meat?

Asking for a friend.

Why do you go into wild animals’ cages?

Is the view really that different inside the cage?

Why do you jump off buildings?

While not sky-scrapers, there are some pretty tall structures on our island that I’ve never had the urge to scale then jump off.

Why do you put clothes on pets?

I’d like to know this for my science project

Why do you pet wild animals?

Is that even a term?

Okay these probably aren’t burning questions but I’d still like to get some answers gotdamit! Share your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Ok, as someone who is white, and living in a developed country (US), I’ll answer for myself only:
    1. Ghosts are intriguing.
    2. Splitting up is only done in fictional scenarios.
    3. I’ve never just walked into someone’s house, unless they’ve been expecting me.
    4. I’ve never met an alien, that I’m aware of, so I’m not sure if I’d be trusting of one or not.
    5. No, I use garlic, onion, oregano, basil, thyme, lemon pepper, Cajun spices, etc to spice meals.
    6. I don’t eat raw meat.
    7. Have never entered a cage with a wild animal.
    8. Have never jumped of a building g, but I have off of bridges and out of an airplane. In my defense though, there were bungee cords and a parachute involved, respectively.
    9. I don’t dress my pets.
    10. I don’t pet wild animals

These are only my answers, and others may see things differently. Hope this helps a little. 😃

    1. Hahah… it did… thanks for your answers… most of these questions are fiction based anyway… but… tell me… how was the bungee and sky diving experienes… the riskiest thing Ive ever done was ride a roller coaster… and it was only the NY NY in Vegas which is like a baby roller coaster apparently…

      1. Hahaha! I’ve ridden that coaster too. Bungee jumping was terrifying, to stand out on the ledge of the platform, looking down at the river below, seeing boulders the size of VW’s. But once you make the call to jump, it’s a major adrenaline rush. Fantastic fun. Skydiving was different. It initially feels like your falling, and your stomach feels like it’s in your throat. But, after a few seconds, it just feels like floating or soaring. It was a rush too, but different. Then once the parachute opens, it’s like gliding. I recommend both. 😃

      2. Oh dude…you should TOTALLY try ziplining. I’m terrified of heights and it’s one of my favorite things to do. Over the summer, when we were in Roatan, Honduras on a cruise, we did this zipline where you were suspended in a sling so you were laying flat out, like Superman flying. 😀

  2. These are amazing. Okay, here are my answers.
    1. I don’t. I make my husband while I plot the kids and my escape from what is usually the damn cat knocking something off the counter.
    2. That’s only in the movies. Maybe that’s what white people used to do so they put it in film, then we’re all like, “Nah, we know the second we split up we get picked off one by one, let’s stay together.”
    3. WHO DOES THIS? I would be mortified to do it and to have it done to me. My grandma just incessantly bangs on our window.
    4. I want to know that too.
    5. I’m from New Orleans. Trust me, I know how to use seasoning properly.
    6. I don’t think I’m white enough to answer this one.
    7. Not white enough for this either.
    8. Hmmm… don’t do this either.
    9. Now you have me questioning my whiteness. 😉

    Love this post!!!

    1. 🤣🤣🤣 how white do you have to be… lol thanks so much…! I love your answers…most of the questions are based on what Ive seen in movies… haha… except for the pets… my very black aunt dresses her dog right down to the booties…

Id probably send someone to investigate while I look for the exit too…hahah

      1. If you’re okay with it, please may I have your permission to link back to your website in my next Monday blogging post? It’s about how certain bloggers have inspired me to become a much better blogger, and hopefully it’ll bring more like-minded and creative people together to appreciate each other’s content. How does that sound?

  3. This was so funny! Answers:
    1. I don’t know…humans in general are naturally curious. Most people don’t split up if they can help it, especially because in the movies the ones that want to spilt up are the stupid ones that get eaten, anyway 😂
    2. The only reason to enter someone’s house if they don’t answer is if you think there is something wrong, like it is an old person who may have fallen or something. Other than that…we don’t in real life. Otherwise we might get beaten up or worse because they thought we were a burgler!
    3. I know, right? What is it with us where we want to meet aliens? They could so kill us! I think white people are so used to trying to undo all of the negative feelings towards them because of the fact that most of our ancestors tried to conquer EVERYONE, that now we try make friends with anyone, including aliens!
    4. Oh, honey, maybe in England, but here in the US we use every flavor imaginable! Saffron, curry, hot sauce, soy sauce, peppers lemon, lime, honey, sugar, stevia, molasses, garlic, basil, parsley, oregano, cilantro, to name a few. These differ from west to east, north to south, but generally the further south you are, the hotter the food.
    5. Most of us are fine look in from the outside 😂 but animals are beautiful and sometimes we just want to connect.
6….jumping… off of buildings? Oh do you mean skydiving or bungee jumping? I can’t really answer that as I have never done those things, but those who do say it’s a rush of adrenaline that makes you kind of legally high.
    7. I don’t do it seriously, just to make my family cringe. Sometimes, if they pet has sensitive skin or gets cold easily, it can help the animal, but yes. It’s creepy.
8.see the wild animals in cages answer above.

  5. Funny questions! I eat sushi 🍣 but I do not chase aliens, ghosts or weird noises which pose a threat, wild animals, fast paced air from a free falling event, or bland food… I gotta have some spices you know! I like fresh herbs like cilantro, parsley, dill, luestan, thyme, bay leaves and separate from the herbs I LOVE fresh garlic! I also like to use butter a lot. As for breaking and entering I leave that for others and for The Bad Boys.

Sorry that o missed this before. Glad I saw it now.

  6. Clothes on pets … hmmm. I have just got our pup a raincoat, the husband is disgusted he thinks she will feel humiliated. I believe it will make it easier for her and for me. We get a lot of rain and live in rural England. Lilly is dachshund shape; as in long. She is Ermine patterned, white with tiny black flecks. Coated she can go out all weather’s, and come into the warm house lay next the hearth and relax. Coatless, she would get very wet and muddy, drying has little to no effect so I upset her, by bathing her; to stop the stench of wet dog. We then have a mess, a dog that can not join us because the furniture and rugs would smell the same doggy smell (not pleasant) we would have to go through this each time she wanted a wee or a run in the garden. So a raincoat it is. Just unfasten it remove, dry paws and done. But her coat is plain a tan colour and fit for the job. The people who dress pets in tutu’s and wigs, are somewhat silly, and do not deserve to be guardians of pets. They after all are animals, first and foremost.
